Garage Framing the Ceiling

It's been a while since I've posted on our garage.  You can read about our garage project herehere, here, and here.  If you remember, we wanted to have it done by May.  Obviously the project has taken a backseat to the kid's room this summer.

Our friend Marc the Arc drew an inspiration sketch that we fell in love with.

Since we have friends that will install the drywall for us, we (and when I say we that is a very loose term, in actually it means the Hacker, while I cheer him on) had to frame the ceiling first.

Because he built the frame on the ground, he hoisted it up with straps.  A genius idea.

However, once it was up, it was evident that it was too low.

So the Hacker and Marc raised the frame and built a diagonal elbow for the air condition arm.

And now we're one step closer to getting this garage done.

The Hacker just has to add some framing to the other parts of the roof, that wont be dropped. Then it will be time to complete the drywall and finish the ceiling in the garage.
Do you see it somehow coming together?  (and yes, the garage has gotten messy again.)
And now some inspiration for the laundry room.
This probably wont work in the garage, but I would love to be able to add this element, somehow.
And here's the inspiration board that I made a while back.
Thanks for reading.
Now I have to go fold laundry.
love,
Kristin

Garage Inspirations

I know there is still a long way to go before we get to the phase of decorating.  However, this is my process.  This is what makes me tick.  The Hacker and I are both visual people.  We have to see it, in order to understand it.  So, I'm sharing our crazy with you and what we're thinking about for the garage.

These are just inspirations, we still have no idea what or from where we are going to buy these products.  You will notice there are quite a few items from Ikea.  This is our garage we're talking about, no our kitchen.  I want it to look nice, and be inexpensive.

We have two different designs that we are considering.  The first picture is for a green, natural feel to it.  In either garage, we would like to have side paneling, and a galvanized steel tub for the sink with old fashioned faucets.

The first mood board is our inspiration for a green, natural garage.  We're thinking a garden inspired garage.

1. Behr Japanese Fern paint 2. Elements of Design: Oil Rubbed Bronze Faucet 3. Galvanized steel tub inspiration found here  4.  Sindel  5. Ottava pendant lamp 6.  electrolux washer & dryer 7. Ikea: Akurum cabinets in Fagerland Antique Stain 8. Kroken buckets 9. flower box 10. green paper boxes 11. Svep hardware

For our second inspiration, we're taking a que from Michael's mustang.  What?  You didn't know that Michael had a red, 1965 fastback Mustang?  Well, he does.  It takes up half of our garage, but I'm not bitter.  Because one day, maybe when we're in our fifties, he's going to finally fix it up and take me on dates to the beach in it again.  Just like he did for our prom.

Wait, where was I?  Oh yes, our garage.

1. Behr paint color: Cumberland Fog 2. Sunburst Wire Wall Art 3. Elements of Design: Polished Chrome Faucet  4. galvanized steel tub, inspiration found here 5. electrolux washer & dryer 6.  Foto pendant lamp 7. Ikea cabinets 8. Lansa hardware 9. Akser porcelin buckets 10. aluminum boxes

So there you have it.  It would be great if we can pull either of these themes off. They're very different, but fun.  We'll let you know when we get closer which mood board we've chosen.

Until then,

Kristin

P.S.  Just for fun, which one would you choose?
